DMRS will be in attendance :) :)
Off 2011
It starts as a distant whisper and ever so slowly starts to increase in volume and intensity until it blocks out the sun and blows out your eardrums. Preparations are underway. It is OFF2011.
Off2011
Dates have been set for 20-23 Oct 2011. Hotels and venues are being arranged. Our initial concept has worked well and we have learned some lessons along the way. Certainly we have learned to abide by the “KISS” method, and “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. We have purposely waited awhile to set the dates. Last year, after setting the dates, we had to change them. Hopefully, this year, we have done our homework. But then you know the old saying about the “best laid plans of mice and men”.
Thursday, 20 Oct – Evening, Party (Probably at Brix)
Friday, 21 Oct – Afternoon, Geico Open house
Evening, Boats at Abacoa and Party at JJ Muggs
Saturday, 22 Oct - Daytime, Boats Run at BYBLOS
Evening, Party (Probably at Sugarcane Bistro)
Sunday, 23 Oct - Golf, Fish, Drink, Whatever floats your boat
Once again, there are no fees to attend and all your expenses are your own responsibility. In 2009, we flew under the radar and our total expenses involved $14 for name tags and a pen to write on them. In 2010, the local establishment saw us coming and we had some fees to pay, plus Cadillac paid out of pocket for BYBLOS. We did recover some during our auction. In 2011 our expenses will probably increase. Therefore we will be looking for some help and will gratefully accept small contributions. However, OFF will not become a “commercial” event.
Along the way, there have been some minor rumblings about the moniker “Old Farts Forever”. Consequently we will only refer to it as OFF. You can call it whatever you wish, Old Friends, Old Farts, Old Fellows, Old Fish, Old Fools, Old Faithfull…..It doesn’t matter. The concept is the same…..Old (and new) boat racers, family, friends and associates getting together for a few days to have fun and tell lies.
Best Regards From The Three Amigos - Cadillac McDaniel, Jim Hauser, Steve Sirois
