It is going to be a fun one this year. Just need to get an idea for lunch at Goose Pond and dinner.

As teh resident virgin.... yeah I know, right!!.... what do I need to bring Food wise. Todd's note on Steaks has me curious. I'm not really a Steak guy... To much Beef for me (odd being aTexan), I'm more of a Stuffed Pork Chop dude (as my belly can attest).

So, how much cooking is done?

We had to pull out of this event, NOT because it wasn't "kid-friendly", which was my bad choice of words. It's just that our children's schedules this summer are not being kid-friendly for our attending this event. We're a blended family as most of ya'll know, and it just worked out that my promised trip to the beach to my daughter coincided with this event. We'd be there in a heartbeat otherwise. I just lifted our reservations for both a floating cabin and RV spot number 5, as we weren't sure how we would be rolling this year.

As Poodle has said, the Gorge Run is very kid-friendly, and there are many things to see and do there. Having experienced the hospitality of A-Dock twice now, you won't find any better, and the Gorge Run is beautiful.

My favorite memory of last year's was that section of the river that runs along I-24 for a couple of miles, and about 20 Donzi's passing the cars that were doing 70 mph on I-24 ! Thanks again Dre for the awesome ride, and thanks to all of the A-Dock folks that made us feel so welcome. Leesa & I had a blast...and wish so much we could make it this year !

Try to make it if you can...

Phil S.

Made it home yesterday afternoon. Took the midgets to the river today for some tubing in exchange for a boat wash. They just got done rinsing off the last little bit of Hale's, along with some mysterious drink stains. Looked like a combination of Miller lite, rum panty droppers, and what I hope was a bushwhacker...

Epic weekend without a doubt - the "other slow boat" and crew are definitely on board for next year. Huge thumbs up and thanks to Hedgehog, Inferno, LRT, MP, Zman, and the rest of the motley crew for putting on such a great event and welcoming the new guys. Now we know what to expect for next year and will prepare accordingly. Mrs. duckhunter just rolled her eyes when I cracked open the Summit Racing catalog....

It was a great time as always. I've been wishing that I were still there all week. It was a blast playing around and catching up with everyone. Hopefully we'll see each other sooner rather than later. Good to meet you and your crew, duckhunter. I see a blower in your future soon if Dre has anything to do with it.

To anyone concerned about the ONE boat that went down (mine), I'm about 90% sure that it's the U-joint (you were right on target, Poodle). The boys at A-dock helped me figure it out after they said, "Hmmm...pull it over here for a minute."

All the best,
David

Had a blast, thanks to all for making it such a good time. Great to see everyone and meet some new folks too.

A bunch of belated thank-yous:

Special thanks to Bill, Christina, Bryan, Carter, Cam, Cam's dad Todd, and the rest of the locals and A-dock for hosting and making us all so welcome.
Big thanks to Todd, Jill, Bryan, Carter, Poodle, Andre and Cali (pardon my spelling in advance) for the awesome rides that were way faster than my boat will ever go.
Thanks to Diana, Heidi, Jim, Cliff, and Poodle for Sunday dinner.
Thanks to MWDC for steaks, and to Todd (and anyone else) who slaved over a hot grill, and everyone for all the great food.
Thanks to Cam for making the gas run for everyone.
Thanks to everyone, especially Andrew, for handing beers to my literally lame a$$ when I was on the DL.
Thanks to the cop on I-81 who recognized I was only being polite, trying to hurry out the way of that Jeep he ended up ticketing.
And a bunch more I've probably missed.

Also, I had a handful of inquries about whether it was possible to get more of the shirts I made. It turns out that the place that I got them printed, Zazzle.com, has the ability to make them available for order for anyone, online. I set that up just a bit ago. This link should work: http://www.zazzle.com/chatt_boat_trip_shirt_2012-235924418862568548

Don't ask me who the slightly monkey-faced model is--clearly not me, and nobody I know. Probably some rich dude who invented Zazzle and does coke off models now...

For some reason, the website insists on adding at least $2 per shirt in royalties, which supposedly will go to me someday. (I set the royalty percentage to zero in their system, and it spat it back out with impunity, insisting the minimum was 10 percent.) So, if anyone orders any shirts, I'll more than happily hand you back your $2 when I see you. But only if you ask me like the paperboy from Better Off Dead.

MadPoodle

Ghost

Shirt update: for some reason, the site that makes them is offering 25% off today (Use Code: ZSBDAYSHIRTS). I think it's the site's anniversary or something. (Looks like they did the same thing on the 4th of July, so I think that 25% off may be a pretty common promo for them.)

They're available online at http://www.zazzle.com/chatt_boat_tri...24418862568548 (http://www.zazzle.com/chatt_boat_trip_shirt_2012-235924418862568548)

And as before, I don't intend to profit from them at all. The site forces a 10% royalty (about $2) which is supposed to go to me someday. I will happily hand it back to anyone in the family here who ever buys one.

HEY! Don't you be trying to steal my title..... :boating:

You're right - sorry! It was a minor ego boost getting to pass ONE boat (other than that nice couple in the pontoon, who thought that we were "number one" apparently). Once we figured out that a good head start was important we managed to at least stay in the same zip code as the rest of the pack. Did have a good time bombing along with the tunes and exhaust cranking and feeling like we were hauling ass only to be passed by the fast guys like we threw an anchor out.

There will be an "AOTH" event under my engine hatch before the next gorge run... Stan already mentioned that his 496 would fit in there; I think I could nurse the alpha along for at least 20 minutes behind that thing!

We're good with either date. Probably bringing our 9 y.o. as the crew this time. She is a champ at handling fenders and lines, and her little monkey hands are great for grabbing stuff in the bilge. I'll drop a leave form and book a cabin as soon as there is a definitive weekend. Who is in charge of weather coordination? Is there a chaplain on A Dock somewhere?

What he said! Someone make the call... Mrs. dh and I are in and we are trying to talk the Florida crew into another road trip to Chatt. Just need to pin down a weekend to get everything lined up. I have a trip to Asscrackistan to squeeze in sometime this fall and need to start locking in dates for that. Hedge - since you are apparently the HMFIC at Hale's is there any chance of having enough folks for a break on the cabins again?

We're looking forward to it regardless of the date. Our daughter found some big pool noodles that do a lot better job of supporting my fat ass so I'm pretty stoked about that. Also investing in an anchor shade vs. the bimini, which was a huge PITA. And some bigger fenders in case Dre shows up again, because he questioned my masculinity based on the small fenders... Plus the "not slowest" boat is running great in all of her 53mph glory.
