Just thought I'd throw this up. farmerTX and I did this event last year and had a grest time, 2012 Lake Powell Challenge (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?68020-Post-Lake-Powell-Challenge&highlight=powell) . The weather in September is usually spectacular and this is a very relaxing weekend. The only issue we may have this year is that we lost a large section of Highway 89 over the winter, acess to the south end of the lake. It's highly unlikely that this highway will be repaired this summer so there is a 50-mile detour to get to powell from the South. We'll probably go up on Wednesday or Thursday and return home on Sunday.

The early registration deadline is July 31st @ $150, it goes up to $200 after this deadline.

For anyone who might be on the fence about coming to Powell, maybe this will help.

The San Juan Arm of the lake is about 60-miles up from the dam. Give the video some time; he enters the lake about 1/4 of the way into the video and flys along the San Juan before entering the main channel of the lake. Towards the end he flys over Antelope Marina which is where the Poker Run will be staged.

The deadline for the early registration is comig up on July 31st.

Awesome guys. Mike we're looking forward to seeing you again, it's been a while. Hopefully Yeller will also make it. I'm going to try and get my dad out here with his 33. He's always wanted to come out and neither one of us is getting any younger.

The lake is back down again. We gained quite a bit over the last few years and had a few years at 40' below full pool but the lack of run off this year really hit the lake hard and we're down 100'. It's really not a big deal though and in a way makes the lake even better by exposing a lot of hidden treasures. One of the treasures we visited several years ago, "Cathedral in the Desert", up in Escalante should be just about perfect.

Signed up! Wasn't sure what to put down for boat speed though. I don't know how fast I can paddle......

I registered yesterday. I need to call them now and get some info on the houseboat rentals for this year.
