Make it so, Oh MADCOW master!

A central place to stay and maybe a place to launch that isn't a beach would be a great start. Entertaining for the swimmers, not so much for the 22 guys.

Maybe a trip up to Charlevoix and the big lake too.

I'll never forget spotting 357 feet on the depth finder off of Petosky and hearing Jill start humming the Edmund Fitgerald refrain last time we were there. Priceless.

Oh, and we still need to get over to that tequila bar in Boyne and sample the wares!

YOU are the MADCOW Master. Happy to help out and attend, but the AOTH by the MWDC is our big broo-haa-haa now. The MADCOW baton is now yours. Time to start scheduling brother!

Great job stepping up, Mick, and congratulations on your new title!
Count me in on whatever your plans include, plus I am even willing to do light legwork if called upon.
Todd is right, Torch ramps are woeful...especially is the water level is down.

For what it's worth, the Boyne City "Thunder" Poker Run is a pretty cool event. I spent some time there on the Thursday evening before the run and there were already some pretty serious rigs assembled. Maybe we could coordinate a small Donzi gathering on a nearby lake, and still wander around the Boyne City docks for a side diversion?

How about Charlevoix so we can venture onto Lake Michigan if conditions permit? Or why not Lake St. Clair which opens up endless oportunities? The run to Put-in-Bay is awesome. The new MotorBoating mag calls it the Key West of the Great Lakes and possibly the most popular boating destination of the entire Great Lakes. Geez, I can't believe we don't have a major gathering in Michigan. :(

Carl,

you have a ton of guys and water out there. find a time that doesn't conflict with other major events, make that time your time.
Mick ,Tony , yourself and the others in your area I'm sure will lend a hand.
That really is the key is getting some help, like Todd said he has a crew behind the scenes that makes the event go off without a hitch. same with the dustoff. You need that so that everyone has a good time in and out of the boats.

the guys out there have been to all sorts of events they have an idea what needs to happen. Do it by committee, many hands make light work. I think the 20 cig guys look for a different place to go from year to year. they have a big midwest contingent. When I went there last they were looking for someone to do the leg work in an area that they could have a run maybe work a joint run with them for the first year to get started.

also look for the help of a local dealer or performance center to help get things going.

might be nice to get out there maybe get Rootsy and Patti out on the water :)

I owe Patti a ride, and hope to do it next spring before I haul the boat up north. Maybe on Wamplers like some guys did a while back.

Matty makes good points, especially about many hands making light work. With that said, though, you still should have one main decision-maker. While I enjoy the big events and have been to several, I like the smaller informal ones, too. Nothing wrong with 2-6 Donzis cruising around one of Michigan's many fine inland offerings...or even one of the Great Lakes!

Come to think of it, wasn't there a small group of Donzi classics up near the Cederville/Hessel area? Seems to me I remember a very compelling picture of an orange Ski Sporter, the sister of a guy who owns an 18, or something like that. About ten years ago we boated the Les Cheneaux Islands and it was spectacular!

Tony, yes good point the many need to work in unison, otherwise you have a splintered event people here & there

Patti, it was Chris Riley that showed us around when we were up there, too! Small world, 'eh?
Really nice guy, knew the local waters like the back of his hand, plus he was well-versed in the history and ownership of the various properties.
Let us know if you have plans to re-visit...
