Just a word of caution to those who will be traveling on rt 87 the NY state thruway
recently in the past year or so there have been an extremely high rate of fatal accidents on the thruway between exit 15 ( where rt 287 in nj intersects with rt 87) and exit 17 Newburgh on rt 87( 34 miles north of exit 15) the rate of accidents has been high enough that local law makers have made the state troopers crack down on that stretch of roadway so buckle up and stay near the posted speed limits Also as a result of these accidents that area has been under construction for repair of a damaged overpass and for general safety improvements and they warn to expect delays from 6pm to 6 am on the north bound side daily for the next few weeks I know some of you come thru there at the wee hours of the morning
