    Default Gorge Event List

The schedule is.....well there is no schedule but here is the loosely coordinated series of events.

Thurs Night - We will hit some restaurant. Either the marina or mexican. A number of us will be hanging around that day. We can be found at A-Dock. The Roamer is the big boat on the end. Tex's boat is 2/3 the way down. It is named Esperanza.

Fri - Run to Goose Pond. We will leave at 11:00 Central. Goose Pond is opening the restaurant "The Docks" to serve us. It will be $15 per head plus beer. We will then run back. This is a pretty run on the upper stretches of Lake Guntersville next to Sand Mountain. You can run HARD. We will have drinks around the dock when we get back and wait for the remaining attendees to show up.

Sat - Run to Downtown. We will probably eat at the Big River Grill. I wanted to go to the North Shore. We did last weekend but the walk was HOT. I don't want Weasel to melt! We will leave around 11:00 am Central. We may have to dock at a different spot as they are dredging around Marine Max. The Max boats are all at my favorite tie up spot. After that, we will run back. The round trip is a tad over 70 miles. The marina is having a big raft up at the swimming hole. We will probably go over after the run to town.

Sat night - Dinner at the Dock. SE is doing steaks, Garth is cooking some brisket. A number of folks are bringing sides (thanks Tim, Vol and others). Drinks will flow.

Sat night late - Jet ski / hot tub races at Jamie's Hot tub. This will occur somewhere around midnight.

The marina has a band at the raft up. Cam will be around to help shuttle intoxicated people that may want to go.

Sunday - Raft up and high speed drive by's. Tex will be coordinating that. Hedge has to go to the airport in the afternoon to fly out on biz.

As we are in mid / late summer, the hydrilla is out. Watch for floating patches in the lake. It will not hurt anything but you can suck it up in your raw water pickup. Also watch out for Bushwhackers!

    Default Gorge run

I will be up Sat am and hope to be at the dock by 10:00 am. My new bride(Sheila - July 1) will not be attending but I will be there with a buddy or two.
Got a "rustic cabin" so I am good to go for Sat night.
Whats this about a raft up Saturday with a band playing at Cedar Point from 6-8? We gotta figure out how and when to cook out. You don't want to miss out on any of that!!
We need to thank Leann for grabbing a couple cabins from the softball team that had them all reserved - so she says...
as of now- still showing a floting cabin (199 wow) available and a 3 br cabin.

I want to make it for Friday but can't get away from work at this time but subject to change.

I considered taking the Roamer to the raft up but after discussion with others, I decided that it would be more valuable at A Dock as a staging spot. The raft up is only a 5 minute boat ride in a fast Donzi.

Jim, you can ride up to a park and the base of Chickamauga Dam. It is around 5 - 6 miles. It is not as pretty as the Gorge but makes a nice run. I do it on occasion. Any further and you will have to lock up.

I would be seriously interested in going past that dam after lunch, lots of time to kill before the SE cookout....
