[QUOTE=Lenny;44497]That wasn't for anyones lack of trying Ed. You were impossible ot find at Chatt and certainly had a few other things going on.

Impossible to find? Bull****. Rob and I were ready to roll at 11.30 a.m. The first run. We even trucked down fuel to A Dock for one member. Seems no one told us to meet at the floating cabins, not the bottom of A dock.
Meet for dinner at 8 p.m.? Rob and I waited until after 9p.m. And no one showed.
Jim told me the second run had a 5 block walk to the restaurant. Yeah I have a lung condition and can't walk 5 blocks.
Ends out no one walked that far.
Breakfast? We were at the right place at the right time and the same people that were late for the dinner were late for the breakfast...
Don't know what I did to **** off someone. But I lived up to my end of the deal..Ed

Ed, My boat always has room for you and Robbie. I loved looking back and seeing you trying to duck the hail and thunderstorms we hit at 70 mph !!!

i'm not sure what started this tit for tit, but I will be the fall guy and take full responsibility.. also, I had no idea the lunch was on the big boat next to our receiving dock, until we got there.... I thought it was still at Blue Plate, the 5 block walk... I apologize for any shortcomings, and lack of intinerary , whatever they were.

Ed, I know that a lot of guys were asking about you at the Gorge, Buizilla in particular.

The lack of a to-the-minute itinerary can be a pain, but IMO it's one of the reasons that the Gorge Run is so much fun. If I wanted to be scheduled and managed and stressed out all weekend I'd stay at work. The big muscle moves are planned out well in advance, but the exact timing depends on getting all of the cats herded up and heading in the right direction every day.

Sorry it didn't work out this year, but you've always got a seat on a bunch of different boats in Chatt!

Ahh, Jim, I didn't post that. That wasn't my quote you pasted Ed did.

I merely indicated that we looked on many occasions for him to come with us. In fact, "we" you and I , and others in same vehicles looked for him to come for lunches, breakfasts and dinners. I think the key here is to have the phone "ON"

So, long "tit-tat" story really short, ED, this is what "a non-organized event" looks like There are boats in the water, cabins no more than a hundred feet from any water, and people that want to ride around in them. Next time.

Back to Jim's original intent of this post,... I like informal gatherings with no agenda. Just folks from everywhere doing what they want.

Think Woodstock and boating in the same mindset.

Don't appreciate Lenny mouthing off about what he doesn't know anything about.
My health issues didn't stop me from getting the Doral to A dock on time, and that is with Rob and I sleeping in the pick up 2 nights in a row due to unforeseen circumstances. Phil S didn't have any trouble finding me.

Default Well there you have it...

For the record, I was the one that got ferried by Ed and Rob down to the FP with a surplus five gallon can of premium fuel. I didn't realize that they did not have a ride until I was pulling away from the docks, and I didn't have vests for them, even if I did take them with me. Not to mention the five gallon bomb riding back there with them. The first thing I did when I found out about this snafu was search them out and apologize, when we got back.

So this is a good illustration of exactly what I was talking about earlier here. The Gorge run is on the verge of being something more than a casual gathering in terms of size. The regulars tend to go with the flow. But, it can be a little unnerving to those who don't know the program. Or lack there of.

    I wouldn't miss it.

Ed, it is a shame that our communities "visit" was short. 'Breakfast, lunch and dinners as a "group" with no guidance, purpose, not even a mission statement, AND ALCOHOL ???, well, we tend to wander. Over the last 12 years of our chatting online and DONZI appreciation this was the first time, and first event, that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting you.
    Next time

    Take care

the truth of my Friday deal was this > Ed and Rob went to Cracker Barrel..... I got to A Dock at 10ish... Mike and I both were waiting at A dock and the fuel dock for a while, no one showed, Tim pulled up to the gas dock at 11:45ish and needed fuel, so we moved away and idled back around the old dam and went to check A dock AGAIN, at that point Tripper was the last boat pulling away, and Mike and I both visually checked A dock and the parking area, saw no one else, and we moved on not to miss the lock opening as a group, I am pretty sure Tim (after getting fuel last) and I were the last to the lock. Further truth > NOBODY told Ed the time to be there (or maybe he was told 12 and not 11 or so), the customary dock board wasn't there for confirmation, and we were still about 45 minutes late due to Hedge changing the drive oil in the Fountain. Apparently, as Tripper and I motored off lastly from A Dock was when Ed arrived. As God is my witness, you have no idea how bad I felt, and Mike can confirm that.

But, breakfasts at Cracker Barrel, 2 exits north, can take longer than expected when I got back I went to Ed's cabin and spoke to Rob about dinner Fri night, apologized profusely, but Ed wasn't feeling well enough to come out, I was the last person the eat on the barge that night after checking on Ed and they had to open the grill just to serve me.... I also told Rob to please find me after they went to breakfast on Sat morning and sure enough he was waiting down by the dock and said Ed couldn't make the 5 block walk to lunch that day, but I had zero knowledge that days lunch stop was 500 feet away, and not 5 blocks away, until we got there... Once again, i'll be the fall guy for the itinerary fail, since the entire reason Ed was even there was to help me out for a transit drop off. I made sure he got dinner Sat night, and I saw him again Sun morning before they departed.

After roadtripse left, Rob and I watched the 25' ? Donzi being towed in by an 18? Donzi We were right at the end of the dock watching them. We were still there when the 4 of them left. The whole trip wasn't a disaster as Parnell kept his word to Rob and I.

Is this a test of some sort? It's the same date every year!

Hummmmm since new ownership, does AOTH now become a gathering of Baja, Fountain, Proline, Donzi, Formula, Magnum, Cigarette and any other performance boater who want to have a fun weekend together enjoying the beauty of Lake Cumberland?

Can't remember anyone ever telling anyone they couldn't come to the gathering. Better make sure the Lake Cumberland State Park Resort doesn't have a fishing tourney happening that weekend. LOL This could get really BIG, REALLY FAST if some folks in Washington, NC want to get behind it pushing all the brands being built there. Would be stunning to see a 50th Anniversary 22 in attendance.

Did I mention I really do miss organizing with the help of all the other friends and enthusiast of this gathering. AOTH is in great hands with Byron, Jerry and everyone else who helps them including the Donzi Marine Restoration Society. I'm sure Jamestown isn't going to say no to reservations either, but special rates for the attendees is usually a part of the weekend also. You want to make sure all that is in place and everyone is aware of it first. Just remember, this is their off-season.
