Pm sent.
Thanks for the call Stan. Sounds like fun for sure. Nothing that a 3200 mile airplane ride can't cure. Any idea of dates ?
Will you have the Home Depot Pace boat ready by then ?
:D
Yes the "Home Depot" express will be done by March, but will probably bring the 18. Ghost is looking for a hotel and we will reserve a block of rooms. Also there is a camp site. The lake is large with plenty to do for everyone. There will be NO fees and we are not taking responsibility for anyone. Just bring your Donzi and have safe run. We need another run beside AOTH and Chatt for the southern boats and Lake George for the northern boats. This lake is in the middle and would be great if we could get them all together.
Do you promise to fix the valve seals and rings before you bring it ? http://www.donzi.org/forum/images/smilies/whee.gif
Reasonable, off season rates if in May, boat launching, slips and verandas...
Looks perfect ! Have you looked at this ?

We have to sort that out, otherwise it will be like Jamestown, KY 10 years ago.Quote:
The majority of the south shore of the lake lies in Franklin County while a small portion, including access to the dam, lies in Pittsylvania County. Bedford County makes up the northern half of the lake with the Roanoke River as the dividing line.

The Flowerpot would make an appearance, if I can find it....
He can find it, but can he get it up the hill?
The rough schedule I'd heard contemplated for an SML trip was perhaps August. Any thoughts?
sounds good to me. Bring on the heat.

There is plenty of places to buy booze around the lake, so that should not be a issue plus many rest./bars on the lake to boat too and get booze if needed....
The Westlake Inn is a nice place have seen it from the water and looks nice but have stayed at this place in the past http://www.marinerslanding.com and its an ideal place to stay, has great dockage nice rooms/condos, reasonable prices, bar/rest. on site, pool, beach for kids, etc...... This is the place they run there Poker Run out of in May.
My family and I have been going to SML for a wks vacation the last five yrs, the first yr we stayed at Mariners Landing loved it, now the last four yrs started renting a house on the lake for the wk not too far from Mariners Landing. Mariners Landing is on the better end of the lake in my opinion (dam end)....
Depending on timing in August I am in for this run.....Also trying to get a small crew together for the Poker Run in May....:shift:
Undertaker:D
My crew would like to participate but it would have to be in the first part of August.
Look's like a great place to run, are there any noise police on this lake?
thanks,

Noise and speed restrictions are on my question list. Haven't seen any answers to those in my surfing so far. Work and travel will likely have me pinned down for much of the next two weeks, so I'll try to do some more digging soon, but may or may not get it done quickly. If anyone knows or learns anything useful, it'd be great to share/record it here.
can I run my Yamaha Strangler with open stacks? :shift:
Looks like VA law requires baffles of some sort:
Muffling Device
"The exhaust of an internal combustion engine on any motorboat shall be effectively muffled. The muffling device shall exhaust at or below the water line or it shall be equipped with mechanical baffles. The use of cutouts is prohibited." http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/boating...uffling_Device
There is an annual poker run on SML and apparently the water cops are cool about it. http://smlba.com/
If we can make it I'll pack the Corsa slip-ons in the truck and roll the dice on the cutouts.
Like I said earlier been going to this lake for the last five yrs. in July (prime season) and have never had a problem with noise or speed issues. That being said I believe there are noise and speed laws on the books BUT in my experience so far its been a non issue for me. Also from what I have heard they have no issues with there poker run either....
I only have a STOCK 22 classic so maybe thats why I have been ok so far :O
Undertaker
Stock ........... ok ....
Duckhunter...You better make it stock like us !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have some Corsa tips I can borrow for the HOME DEPOT SPECIAL ?? :boating:
The boat, the boat, not the lake! I actually touched the Beast just a little while ago. All good. 63 here in Kentucky, today, so I took a run around and checked up on all of the water toys.
Looks like things are shaping up for a nice run at SML. Happy to pitch in...
Hearing rumbles in the background. That could just be last night's anchovies pizza, but... Stay Tuned for Further Details from your SML Sponsor!
Hey, if anyone wants to see Smith Mountain Lake, a few folks from the board will be there with boats in late June, staying at the Westlake Inn (http://westlake-waterfront-inn.com).
I'm heading down Thursday, June 26th and hope to arrive in the 6-9PM range. Will be staying 3 nights, leaving sometime on Sunday.
Nothing organized, just hanging out and making it up as we go, checking out the lake. However, feel free to mention my name to Liz and they should give you a $120/night rate for all days, saving a few $$ off the regular weekend rates.
The Inn is 100 waterfront rooms, slip included with each, and parking for trailers. Come on down, the more the merrier.
