My crew would like to participate but it would have to be in the first part of August.

Look's like a great place to run, are there any noise police on this lake?

    thanks,

Noise and speed restrictions are on my question list. Haven't seen any answers to those in my surfing so far. Work and travel will likely have me pinned down for much of the next two weeks, so I'll try to do some more digging soon, but may or may not get it done quickly. If anyone knows or learns anything useful, it'd be great to share/record it here.

Looks like VA law requires baffles of some sort:

    Muffling Device

"The exhaust of an internal combustion engine on any motorboat shall be effectively muffled. The muffling device shall exhaust at or below the water line or it shall be equipped with mechanical baffles. The use of cutouts is prohibited." http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/boating...uffling_Device

There is an annual poker run on SML and apparently the water cops are cool about it. http://smlba.com/

If we can make it I'll pack the Corsa slip-ons in the truck and roll the dice on the cutouts.

Like I said earlier been going to this lake for the last five yrs. in July (prime season) and have never had a problem with noise or speed issues. That being said I believe there are noise and speed laws on the books BUT in my experience so far its been a non issue for me. Also from what I have heard they have no issues with there poker run either....

I only have a STOCK 22 classic so maybe thats why I have been ok so far :O

Yup, I aspire to be "stock" like you guys some day! The Corsa cans are pretty sweet, but I think you would launch them right off the transom the second you fired up the beast.

The boat, the boat, not the lake! I actually touched the Beast just a little while ago. All good. 63 here in Kentucky, today, so I took a run around and checked up on all of the water toys.

Looks like things are shaping up for a nice run at SML. Happy to pitch in...

Hey, if anyone wants to see Smith Mountain Lake, a few folks from the board will be there with boats in late June, staying at the Westlake Inn (http://westlake-waterfront-inn.com).

I'm heading down Thursday, June 26th and hope to arrive in the 6-9PM range. Will be staying 3 nights, leaving sometime on Sunday.

Nothing organized, just hanging out and making it up as we go, checking out the lake. However, feel free to mention my name to Liz and they should give you a $120/night rate for all days, saving a few $$ off the regular weekend rates.

The Inn is 100 waterfront rooms, slip included with each, and parking for trailers. Come on down, the more the merrier.
